‘An Ever Changing View’ Tapestries
I was commissioned by Matthew Halsall to handweave 2 tapestries to be used as the artwork for his album, ‘An Ever Changing View’. Over a few months, I designed the pieces, dyed the yarns, and wove the tapestries from my studio in London, all whilst listening to ‘Water Street’, from his new album.
We worked closely together to design something that beautifully reflected his music, as well as tell the story of how and where it was written, on the idyllic Welsh coastline. Each tapestry is unique, and is semi-transparent, so they can sit in the land and form part of the landscape.
We worked with Carpenter, Chris Gabe, who designed and made 2 wedged oak frames so each piece could be deconstructed easily to tour with Matthew and his band.
