Weaving with Nature, Bridgehouse Gardens

Commissioned by Bridgehouse Gardens for the South Bermondsey Festival 2023, Weaving with Nature was a participatory workshop exploring the relationship between textiles and the natural environment.

Participants gathered plants and grasses from Bridgehouse Meadows, soaking and weaving them into a communal piece on an open loom. Throughout the day, people of all ages contributed, creating a dynamic, ever-evolving artwork. At the end of the festival, we cut the weaving from the loom and hung it in the community garden, where it continued to transform with time and the elements.

This project celebrated connection - between people, place, and materials - while embracing the beauty of natural textiles.
