Crossover
Crossover was an interactive exhibition that showcased the works of Sara Kelly and Hummingbird Mamon. The show explored the bold use of colour and form in two different artistic mediums.
The exhibition was transformed into a site for learning, where visitors can engage with craft processes and interact with the works. The artists collaborated with a local primary school, Tidemill Academy and offered open, drop-in workshops with the wider community. Participants were invited to freely paint on canvas and weave on an upright floor loom, to contribute to a collaborative piece – a true crossover of skill and knowledge. This culminated on the final day where the communal tapestry was cut from the loom and exhibited alongside the other works.
The artistic approach from both Sara and Hummingbird, although distinctly different, offered an insight into their unique creative practices. This exhibition highlighted their abilities as individual artists, whilst holding a space for their work to openly communicate.
