FORM, Periplus

In 2019, I participated in a week-long collaborative design residency with Periplus Workshops in the Mani Peninsula, Greece. Entitled FORM, the residency explored material behaviour and fearless experimentation with the primal genesis of form.

Engaging directly with the local environment, from the materials we worked with to the food we shared, the residency fostered an open, experimental network of makers. My project focused on constructing backstrap looms from found materials—fallen olive branches, gardening twine, and other natural elements. This was my first exploration into weaving with plant matter, culminating in a public exhibition where participants were invited to weave on the backstrap loom, contributing to a communal tapestry using locally sourced materials.
