‘Up on the Roof’, Queen Elizabeth Hall Garden
This community open day took place in the Queen Elizabeth Hall Garden at the Southbank Centre, bringing people together through weaving and nature. I built a freestanding frame loom, warping it with gardening twine to create a structure that invited participation. The session began with an hour of foraging, where participants collected plants and natural materials from the garden.
Throughout the day, visitors were encouraged to contribute to the evolving tapestry, weaving organic textures into the framework. As the piece has dried and transformed over time, it has become a living record of collective creativity, now displayed in the garden - slowly shifting, decaying, and taking on a new form shaped by nature itself.
